Launch of the Artemis 1 mission: a new departure to the Moon for NASA
Citation de volcanol le 29 août 2022, 14 h 20 minThe launch of the Artemis 1 mission on Monday 29 August 2022 marks a new beginning for NASA, whose primary objective is to send men to the Moon. This first launch is unmanned (men are replaced by dummies) and serves as a full-scale test for future launches (technical validation of the launcher, processes, etc.). Eventually, NASA's objective is to maintain a continuous presence on the Moon. The launch is scheduled to take place at approximately 2:30 p.m. Paris time. Not to be missed.
This mission aims to put the Orion spacecraft into lunar orbit. The SLS launcher used for the occasion is the largest ever built.
If no technical problems are encountered and all procedures are validated, an Artemis 2 mission is planned for 2024, this time the Orion spacecraft will be manned, and in 2025-2026, the Artemis 3 mission should enable humans to walk on the surface of the Moon again.
